What Are Dentures?

Dentures are synthetic teeth that can be created from nylon, acrylic, or even some moldable metals. Dentures help reconstruct and support your facial muscles and your appearance, allowing you to look younger.

Denture Types

Dentures can be personalized to meet your specific needs. You can get dentures for one single missing tooth, a full row of teeth, or all of your teeth. There are three main varieties of dentures:

CONVENTIONAL DENTURES

Conventional dentures are what you think of when someone says 'dentures.' They consist of two rows of artificial teeth that can be placed over the gums covering your jaw after all the remaining teeth have been extracted, and you are completely healed.

PARTIAL DENTURES

Partial dentures are applied when some or most of the natural teeth remain. They cover the gaps of missing teeth to give the appearance of a full smile.

TEMPORARY DENTURES

Temporary dentures are what you get right after you've undergone surgery to extract your remaining teeth. These are typically used as an interim device to use the healing process before you get your permanent conventional dentures.

OVERDENTURES

Overdentures are the favored choice when some teeth can be saved to preserve the health of the jawbone. These dentures are fitted onto an implant or healthy tooth to keep it secure.
